Gift Card Thank You Notes

As more and more correspondence occurs electronically, the art of writing by hand a thank you card has been lost among some circles.  But if you wish to make a good impression upon the gift giver, or to express your appreciation for their gift, there's nothing that will warm their heart like a well worded thank you note.  So now that you've received a gift card from a friend or loved one, you've got to come up with some text to fill that card. 

• Salutation - This will most likely be "Dear First_Name," although sometimes a more formal greeting can be called for.

• Acknowledge the gift.  Thank them for the gift card.

• Explain how you you plan to use the gift card or how you have already used it.

• Discuss the event for which the gift was provided, especially if at christmas, your wedding, or your birthday.

• Close - "Love" or "Yours truly" are both acceptable.

• Signature - Don't forget to sign it
  

It may take some extra time, but a well written thank you note will earn plenty of bonus points from the gift giver and also make you feel warm inside.  We wish more people would take the time to write a thank you note after receiving a gift!
